Birthdays and in between!

Life is always very busy in the Autumn in our house! This year not only have we moved house but countries as well, not to mention 4 birthdays in six weeks!

 

Jonah and Elijah have signed up for new football teams in our village, this is Jonah debuting for his team below:

 

 

Pete had his birthday....

 

And Jemima has come home from school with a new instrument she has the opportunity to learn in her class, as part of a music project run by the County Music Department!

 

She was also a super Red Riding Hood in her class performance of Roald Dahl's revolting Rhyme for National Poetry Day, and Elijah conrtibuted well to his class 'Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace' by AA Milne.

Jonah Celebrates his 12th Birthday

 

As his birthday was on a Monday, Jonah invited a few friends to come and chill at our house, last Saturday to celebrate his birthday. He had two friends he knew before and the rest were new ones he'd made at his new Secondary School.

We converted our dining table into a homemade table tennis table!

 

Our Pool table was outside on the patio.

And the Wii was set up to play Wii Sport.

All the boys took off their shoes without being asked and took turns participating in the activities without any problems!

The highlight was a NERF gun  game, all carefully planned with Pete adjudicating. Here is Jonah giving the instructions!

What a great bunch of friends Jonah has made- it was a pleasure to have them!

 

 

Jonah's Final Day at The Franconian International School

On Friday June 29th Jonah had his last day at the FIS. He leaves his second year in Middle School to got back to England and start Secondary School. We still wait to hear where, but hope it will be in the school behind where we will live.

There was a leaving assembly where he was presented with a signed T Shirt from his class and a school mug.

Then a classmate said a few words about him:

After that each class performed a musical piece.

My camera batteries ran out when I was taking the final pictures so I had to do another of the front of the T Shirt later after we had framed it for safekeeping.

First of the lasts!

 We are returning to England after our 3 1/2 year adventure in Germany.....

Elijah  had his final league match with his SV Bubenreuth team, they made him honorary Captain and he did a great job encouraging them back from being 4-2 down to a 5-4 win in the last few minutes...the team said they wanted to win for him!

So proud to be captain he couldn't stop touching the armband:

 In the Regnitzhalle, the indoor football halls in Bubenreuth, there is a poster with Gary Lineker's famous words, (translated into German of Course).

''Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win."

My theory as to why this might be so, is that from the very beginning of their football training, and at the end of every match penalties are taken and practised. Below is Elijah's penalty:

We had to drive straight on to Jonah's final  match.

 S.V Bubenreuth U13s team had to win to come top of their league and earn promotion.

 On the way home the whole team (and supporters) stopped at McDonald's to celebrate!
