Elijah's Final Football Celebrations

 Elijah's team had arranged a final Football Tournament to end the year with. Six teams were due to come but only five turned up. That meant Elijah's squad was split into two teams. Elijah was in the first team and at the end of all the games they were in joint first place! A final then had to be played to decide the winners and unbelievably SV Bubenreuth team 1 won 2-0!! What a great present to  Elijah , who was again Captain, on his final game for his German team-a gold medal!!

Jonah and  Elijah's friend Jakob had come to watch.

 Later that day a End of Season BBQ was arranged at the trainings ground.

 The team had prepared a goodbye presentation for Elijah.....

 They gave him a giant team photo , signed by everyone, a smaller laminated one to use as a place mat...

 ...and a 'Germany' football, and his own goalie gloves. (He no longer has the ask Jonah to borrow his!)

One exhausted and emotional boy, sad to say goodbye to all the friends he has made.

Farewells for Jemima

It's a busy time for Farewells! On Thursday we were invited to Jemima's best friend in Germany's family for a meal.

Then on Friday night her Klasse 3a arranged a farewell party (Abshied Feier) for Jemima and her Teacher Frau Ludwig who is also leaving. It was at the local Beer garden.

 After we had eaten there were presentations, First to Frau Ludwig , who was given an apron with the class photo on it , and a DVD on which each of the children had recorded an individual goodbye message. 

 Then Jemima was presented with  T Shirt, which said 'Nothing is sweeter' on the front and had a class photo printed on the back.

 We then all crowded around a laptop to watch the DVD!

 We also got to look after the class' pet snail, Silvester, for the weekend!

And to cap it all the whole class went to the school on Sunday night for a sleepover until Monday!

Jemima had another open ballet lesson where we are able to go and watch what she does in her lessons, here are some pictures.

She also participated in a worship dance group at church, which performed last Sunday during the service.

Jonah's football Farewell BBQ and Our Church Summer Fest

At a German Grillen, or Barbecue, the coal is provided and the grill, you bring your own meat and cook it yourself. At the Jonah's final football farewell, we all brought salads for a communal buffet as well. Families eat separately when their food it ready.

Someone decided the trainers would be thirsty.....

Most of it ended up being thrown Champagne style over them later?!

Jonah was presented with a 'Tango12' ball, signed by all his team, and a team photo as a goodbye gift.

  The whole team were given T Shirts which say in German 'target achieved...Champions 2012' On the back are their names.

On Sunday we had another BBQ, this time at the our Church's Summer Fest.

First we had an open air service.....

Then some fun and games and of course lunch!

When we had a heavy shower we sheltered inside the tent!
