Jemima's Open Ballet Class

After sitting outside the closed door every Thursday 14:00-15:00, today, we were allowed into Jemima's ballet lesson to watch what they do.....brothers and Daddy too!

Running around with the other girls before the lesson starts, good for social interaction!

The lesson formally starts

Warm up

Then some working together

(I'm wondering when she will need a new outfit, as she's been wearing this since she started in England age 3.5! I must have bought with room to grow, as she wears age 9-10 regular clothes!)

Bubenreuth Football Tournament

This weekend Bubenreuth hosted a football tournament.
Jonah's team played on Saturday afternoon. There were eight teams in their group. His team won two matches and drew one. This earned them, a place in the semi- finals, and then the final! At full time the score was 2-2, so it was decided nailbitingly on penalties 4-3 to Bubenreuth. Tension! Every Team got a medal, with Jonah's team getting the gold ones!

Three English boys.
Jonah's friend from School was playing in another team.

Waiting for the final

Penalty shoot out tension!

The team Elijah would have played in if he had not broken his arm......next time!

Klassik am Berg and Elijah's arm update.

Elijah's arm update.

Elijah is coping well with the use of only one arm. Nothing much stops him! The bone is knitting together by being in his sling day and night , and he is getting a bit more movement and less swelling in his broken arm. It still has bruising. We have to return again to the hospital on Wednesday , which will be 3 weeks after he fractured it.

Klassik am Berg

Last Thursday we made the most of my German course having finished for the summer, and walked over to the Berg, (a hill near us) where the Erlangen Bergkirchweih (Beer festival) is held. There was a special event at Entla's Kellar.
A full orchestra played music from films and musicals, while we enjoyed Bavarian food and of course , for some , beer!

Phew It's hot!

We've been trying to cool off in the heat (35oC +), by making the most of German outdoor swimming pools (Freibad). It's about all we've managed to show my Dad so far it's too hot for anything else!
First we tried the new Freibad at Rothelheim, Erlangen.

As you can see Elijah is coping valiantly with only one arm! Not having a cast has made it a bit cooler for him and enabled him to cool off in the water.

We also went to The Freibad at Herzogenaurach.

A broken arm!

Whilst waiting to pick up Jemima from school last Wednesday, Jonah, and Elijah waited in the park next door. Unfortunately Elijah decided to jump from his swing, and landed on his arm , fracturing it in two places above his elbow!
We went to the Waldkrankenhaus (Forrest Hospital) and they decided to put it in a sling until Monday, to see if the muscle would hold the bone together. It was convenient not to have a plaster cast on so we could go swimming in the outdoor swimming pool, as it is very hot here, however it is very vulnerable and he has knocked it a couple of times! It is still swollen to about twice the size of his other little arm, and it is bruising too.

Bubenreuth Kirchweih and England V Germany World Cup Football

Bubenreuth Kirchweih (beer festival)

11 of us watched THE match, tension was high ....

More success for the English with Germany V England in our back garden, probably because of the 3:1 ratio!

A happy end to the day.
