Elijah's 6th Birthday Party

Elijah had his 6th birthday party yesterday, in preparation for his actual birthday on Tuesday. I learnt after I'd sent the invites that it's not normal to host a party before the child's birthday here, (I'd chosen the nearest free weekend day ) but hey, I'm an 'Auslander', what do I know!
It was wet outside , so we had an indoor playtime. One of his six German friends (all boys this year and aged between 4 and almost 6), called it a 'Mini -Kindergarten!'
We then tried to watch a DVD with popcorn, but it didn't quite hold all of their attention until the end so we reverted back to playing and some party games.
Fortunately my attempts at a Chelsea cake, with limited choice of decorating ingredients, went down OK with those who mattered!

Elijah has started football training in our village, like Jonah does!

Jonah's new Chelsea shirt (his birthday present) finally came, so Elijah got his old one!

We had some 'in-house' entertainment. All done in German of course.

Jonah's Residential Field Trip to Hintersee

Jonah has just spent the last week (Monday-Friday) on a residential field trip with the rest of his school year.
They had a 5 hour coach journey to Hintersee (Germany), which is in the Alps, near Salzburg (Austria).
He was particularly taken with the beauty of the Alps, and seems to have enjoyed himself.
Below are some of the photos he took.
